Does anyone have a decent copy of 'Citizen Kane'?Local film buffs have a bunch of horror stories about copies of classic films that reached Israel and experienced a miserable fate. They tell, for example, of a faded copy of 'Blade Runner,' director Ridley Scott's acclaimed film, which someone took the trouble of making out of reels taken from old copies, one the original version and one the director's cut, thereby creating a cruel mishmash of two essentially different creations; they tell of how a recent screening of 'Wings of Desire' in Jerusalem's Binyenei Ha'uma went on for three hours, because the projector repeatedly burned sections of Wim Wenders' film; and they tell how a copy of Hitchcock's 'Psycho' was left without the famous shower scene, because someone apparently wanted it for himself.

He loves "the cat's wild and entertaining behavior," as he puts it. She worries about it jumping on the marble countertops in the kitchen and on the living room furniture. He remembers the cat in his parents' house, which comforted him in his childhood during difficult moments: "When I needed warmth and love and an attentive ear, he was always there." "You have to walk it, make an effort, worry that he won't run into the street; that's too much work for lazy slobs like us." The dream of getting a cat, though, lingered.

If memory serves me right ... There are three basic reasons why critics re-review a restaurant. The first and saddest is if one returns because there are reasons to think the restaurant has deteriorated; the second is the hope that things are as splendid now as they ever were, and the third is the hope that things will be better than they were the previous time around. During my first visit to Lucas two years ago, I found the food overall acceptable but not at all inspiring. Frankly, I returned with the hope that a brasserie this attractive would have raised its culinary standards.
